A free GNU licensed 3D program for modeling, animation and rendering. The program is designed for the GNU/Linux, Posix and Win32 platforms. The K-3D provides an efficient architecture based on the ability to extend functionality with plugins such as the Aqsis reversible motor compatible with the basic Renderman motor.
The application interface consisting of windows using OpenGL allows for easy and efficient modification of textured objects or animations during playback. Work with the application is streamlined thanks to procedural modeling and animation, interactive tutorials. Object windows allow you to zoom in, select and hide unnecessary details of object geometry.
Persons involved in modeling three-dimensional objects will be interested in the types of geometry used (Polygon, NURBS, subdivision, blobby). An indispensable part is, of course, a set of solids, Boolean modeling and support for duplicating objects without adding geometry to the edited scene. K-3D supports 16-bit cardboard and procedural shaders.
K-3D also has proven solutions in the field of animation such as animation of object properties, unlimited number of animation channels or support for Bezier curves.
