Jitsi (formerly SIP Communicator) is an Internet communicator that enables audio/video calls and supports networks and communication protocols such as SIP, GoogleTalk, XMPP (Jabber), Facebook (via XMPP), MSN/Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, AIM and ICQ. The application is equipped with a simple and easy to read graphical interface, based on an eye layout developed over the years and used in other communicators, in which the main window contains a list of contacts, and all conversations are conducted in a separate window.
Among the functions offered by Jitsi we will find, among others, the ability to conduct conference calls, spell-checking mode (also in Polish), grouping calls on the cards of one window, emoticons and file transfer between users. For more demanding users, creators have prepared a mechanism for redirecting messages and self-tips, recording calls, conversation encryption (SRTP and ZRTP), the ability to share a desktop view, as well as support for IPv6 protocol. Jitsi communicator was created in Java language, so it can be run on most popular system platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac OS).
