EAGLE is a well known and appreciated program for the design and optimization of PCBs of various dimensions, including multilayer ones. EAGLE consists of three modules. The circuit editor allows you to pre-draw the logic of the circuit and check its consistency.
The board editor is used to transfer elements and connections to the board and allows you to check signal routes and select the length of paths. The autorouter allows you to automatically lead the optimal tracks on the board, if possible in a given case. The program is intuitive and allows you to quickly learn the tools and start designing.
When creating layouts, it is possible to use models of elements delivered in the program library, together with precise dimensioning. The program's capabilities can be expanded with hundreds of add-ons. The data is stored in open and portable XML.
The free version of EAGLE Light allows you to design PCBs with a maximum size of 100 × 80 mm (4 × 3.2 inches) with two signal layers (top and bottom). This version is intended for learning, as a trial version and for non-commercial and non-profit applications.
If the projects created with the help of Eagle are profitable or if the free version is not enough, you should buy one of the commercial licenses.
