After the success of Duke Nukem 3D, many producers tried to try their hand at playing games based on the technology used by the great hit 3D Realms studio. The band Monolith Productions went in their circles in the cult game Blood towards horror and occultism. Seasoned with dark black humour, the project quickly gained a group of fans in order to be able to enroll in the history of memorable FPP shooters forever.

The adventure begins a little bit later, because of the resurrection and the exit from the tomb. Here we play the role of Caleba, a general fulfilling the will of an ancient deity who decided to betray and kill him. Of course, the aim of the game is revenge.

The course of the game is not too different from what the genre used to. You simply have to find a way out of each level, looking for keys or switches on the way, eliminating enemies and sometimes facing bosses. The popularity of Blood is mainly due to the atmosphere of exaggerated horror.

For the development of the genre, the project added its three pennies not only with twisted weapons such as forks, dynamite, voodoo doll or a blatant tesla generator, but also with the presence of an alternative shot in the case of many weapons. There is also an option of holding them in both hands, which was quite a novelty years ago. Of course, the fun took on even more bloody colors in online gameplay.

The shareware version offers to play the whole first episode of the story of the four available in the full edition. It gives a big insight into the mechanics of the game. To have fun you will need to download and run the DOSBox program.
