Autodesk Pixlr is a full-size program that we will run on Windows and OS X. This is a program for photographers, so you will not find here tools typical for raster graphics programs, such as brushes or marking. However, there are good quality tools for framing and retouching, interesting graphic effects to help you style your photos, tools to simulate optical phenomena, such as depth of field, or fashionable filters that turn a photo into a poster, drawing or comic book.

A set of frames, stickers and text insertion tools is also available. Everything has been collected in groups and collected in a readable tray, and the rest of the program window takes a preview of the photo. It is worth noting that the program allows you to open different types of image files, including RAWs from digital cameras, from which it reads metadata.

Autodesk Pixlr is not suitable for developing RAWs or precise color correction, but only the basic tools to change color intensity and control brightness and contrast. You can also blur, sharpen and smooth out (remove noise). Algorithms responsible for these changes are far from professional tools, but will work in the hands of amateurs.

The retouching tools are also quite simple. We have 3 brushes at our disposal - cloning, brightening and dimming, but we can only adjust their size. A separate space has been reserved for the red eye removal tool.

You can simulate the depth of field to achieve a tilt-shift effect or focus the viewer's attention on a specific point. Depending on the user's imagination, they can be used to shallow the natural depth of field or to obtain completely abstract graphics. An interesting feature not found in the first edge of the photo styling program is the double exposure.

It allows you to assemble two photos into one, but this "at the top" can be transparent. With this method you can get some kind of HDR image or completely new effects. Users are limited only by their imagination.

The real fun begins when you reach the effects collection. Initially, they are not installed with the program, but they can be downloaded on request - just click the effects collection icon. In each collection there are a few or a dozen or so colour modifications of the photos.

The intensity of each can be defined, and after approval of the changes, another one can be imposed. The styling (poster, drawing, material, watercolor...) and additional layers that can be applied to the photo (flames, bokeh, scratches, noise and many others) work in the same way. You can also quickly extract only one selected subject from the photo and change the background to black and white.

The program can be used immediately after installation, but free registration or logging in via one of the social networking sites will broaden its possibilities. A subscription of $14 a year gives you access to further program capabilities and additional materials.
