Audacity is a free, open and multi-platform sound recording, analysis and non-linear audio editing software with multi-track support and the ability to import MIDI. Audacity is able to record sound from different inputs on multiple tracks of the same file. Editing options include trimming, gluing, mixing and applying effects to paths.
Recording can be activated automatically if the sound level recorded by the microphone is high enough. The analysis of each track allows, among other things, automatic rhythm and silence finding, spectrum presentation and background noise removal. It is also possible to correct samples manually and thus remove discrete sampling artifacts with a sufficiently large approximation.
Audacity can import and export files in formats: WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP2, MP3 and Ogg Vorbis, as well as MIDI. Thanks to external libraries it can work with additional formats such as AC3, M4A/M4R (AAC) or WMA.
