Alcohol 120% Free Edition is a free (for non-commercial use) version of one of the most popular tools for burning discs and emulating CD/DVD drives. With its help, we can quickly and efficiently back up any media, including those protected by technologies such as DVD-COPS, SafeDisc, SecuROM or StarForce. The program offers options to rip CD/DVD content to MDS images, burn to MDS, MDX, BWT, B5T, B6T, CCD, CUE, CDI, PDI, NRG, ISZ and ISO image storage media, copy data from disc to disc, built-in image search engine, image manager and delete rewritable disc content.

Alcohol 120% Free Edition gives you the possibility to emulate virtual drives through which you can play back images of discs without the need to burn them, as well as the Alcohol Xtra function, which allows you to conveniently create image files (in the UDF system) from files on your hard disk. The optional tool can be used to convert audio files, but this requires the installation of an appropriate extension. Alcohol 120% Free Edition in comparison to the commercial edition has several limitations of functionality, allowing you to create up to 2 virtual drives and save only one medium at the same time.

In the Free Edition version there is also no option to emulate writing to CD/DVD discs.
